Unfortunately, my contributor contracted Covid- 19 and was now unavailable for the shoot, they contracted it whilst travelling and found out on their return. I had already organised equipment for use on the 13th so I was unwilling to let this go to waste. I was informed by the contributor the night before the shoot which was extremely stressful. I decided I needed to overcome this and ensure an interview for tomorrow.
I got thinking quickly of what I could possibly interview that would relate to my research and original idea, that would be available on extremely short notice. I began brainstorming and then realised that Lucas was a successful young fashion designer who had competed in a major competition in Spain in which he placed 3rd, against very prestigious designers. Lucas was one of the youngest designers to be offered to compete in this competition. With this knowledge I went to him requesting him to be my new contributor, he agreed to be a contributor and enlightened me on the fact he has also designed some outfits for drag queens, this was very releasing news as it meant that my research could still be used and be related. My next tasks are now to set up a new set and set up a new set of questions as well as ensuring to inform my interviewer.
In this situation, I am glad I have been able to be quick on my feet and overcome the obstacle that was placed in front of me. By doing this slight change in my documentary I am able to still meet my deadlines which is a crucial element in the success of the course. I will now also have to complete new research into the fashion industry and its media to be able to complete my magazine.
I am fortunate in the fact that my mum is also a designer and a design office is available for filming in this helps me have the ability to set up the matching mise on the scene to what the new documentary will be about.
After breaking down the idea to Lucas, he suggested to me that he would still however feel more comfortable answering the questions in Spanish which I have agreed to and will add subtitles in the editing of my final product.
